Children and Youth Centre “Rīgas Skolēnu pils” (“Riga Pupils’ Palace”) was established in 1941. It was situated in Riga Palace – the present palace of the president of the Republic of Latvia. Since 1995 “Rīgas Skolēnu pils” is located at 99, K.Barona Street, Riga.
Initially, 300-500 children participated in the activities of different hobby groups. During the last years the number of the students has increased up to three and a half thousand.
Children and young people who attend the largest educational establishment for out-of-doors activities are 3 to 25 years old. “Rīgas Skolēnu pils” offers a lot of hobby groups and musical groups from which each can choose the most favourite ones. The classes are 2-3 times a week –in afternoons and evenings. The students participate in competitions, contests, festivals, exhibitions, concerts, participate in projects, organize the charity events, relax in summer camps, students have visited the United States of America, Africa and almost all countries of Europe.
Currently in Latvia there are many famous pedagogues, sportsmen, doctors, ballet dancers, choreographers, famous actors who have attended our “Rīgas Skolēnu pils”.
